“To Me, Sex Is a Game”
During the conducting of a research on youth sexuality by our organization, we encountered a young boy aged 15 years. These are excerpts from the discussion we had with him.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: Do you stay with your parents?
Alex: No, I stay with my elder brother who works with a shore company that imports goods into the country.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: When did you started having sex?
Alex: In 2004, when I was in JSS 2 and 12 year old.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: Who taught you how to have sex?
Alex: My elder brother. He also had pornographic magazines and films, of which I read and watched. I also watch them with girls before we start having sex. To me sex is a game. He also taught me how to smoke. He said smoking will make me strong. This reason made me indulge in smoking. I don’t smoke Nigeria cigarette, I smoke the imported big ones he brought from his journey. I started smoking at the age of fifteen.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: Do you have girl friends?
Alex: No, I don’t have.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: Then how do you come about the girls?
Alex: They just come to my house to play with me.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: Do they ask you for sex?
Alex: Yes they do. I do ask for it also. Some times even if I don’t ask, they will suddenly pull off their clothes in my presence to seduce me; of which I succumb.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: How many girls have you slept with?
Alex: I’ve lost count. Some are older than me, but I’m older than some.
RIGHT SEXUALITY: Has any of them gotten pregnant?
Alex: Two of the ladies told me they were pregnant, but I rejected the pregnancy. A medical test was conducted which indicated that I was not the owner of the pregnancy.
At the end of the interview, He was lead to Jesus Christ. To God be the glory.
Parents, this question is for you- what are you doing about empowering your children unto right sexuality? If you don’t train them, somebody out there will feed them with evil information about sex. Be wise.
