Phil Jones banned as Uefa confirm Man Utd have been charged with breaching anti-doping rules

Manchester United have have been charged with breaching UEFA anti-doping regulations and have been fined €10,000 (£8,951.20) following last season’s Europa League final against Ajax.
United won the trophy following a 2-0 victory at the Friends Arena in Sweden in May.
As reported by Uefa’s official website, defender Phil Jones has been given a two-game European ban and has been fined €5,000 (£4474.48) after he was charged with insulting and directing abusive language towards a doping control officer. Jones will miss the Super Cup game against Real Madrid on August 8th as well as United’s first Champions League group stage fixture.

Meanwhile, Daley Blind has been charged for violation and non-compliance of the doping procedure, and has also been fined €5,000.

Blind played the full 90 minutes against Ajax, while Jones was an un-used substitute.

United have the option to appeal the charges.
